Technical characteristics of the Sikaflex 221 Black Adhesive Sealant

Sikaflex®-221 black is a single-component filling sealant based on polyurethane, ideal for bonding tenacious and filling spaces. Thanks to its chemical composition, it boasts non-flow properties (thixotropy) and a hardening mechanism with atmospheric humidity. With a density of approximately 1.3 kg/l and an application temperature between +5°C and +40°C, this sealant offers high-level technical performance. Its dust-free time is approximately 60 minutes and the open time is approximately 45 minutes, while the volumetric shrinkage is approximately 5%. The Shore A hardness is approximately 40, the tensile strength is approximately 1.8 N/mm2 and the elongation at break is approximately 500%. Furthermore, it has a tear strength of approximately 6 N/mm and a glass transition temperature of approximately -45°C, with allowable joint width movements of 12.5%.
